Welcome to the first ever “Friday’s Favourite” here at The Female Scriblerian! This is a feature I am really looking forward to working on, which will hopefully round up the week nicely. Friday is such a good day because it’s not only the end of the working week but the beginning of the weekend, and let’s be honest- we all love those! It’s hard not to feel positive on a Friday so, with this in mind, the aim of Friday’s Favourite will be to bring you, as you may have already guessed, my favourite thing from the last week. This could be anything- my favourite article I’ve read during the week, or meal, or purchase, the list goes on and on! So without further ado, we’ll get started. This week’s favourite is, drumroll please…
Coffee! (Praline Latte)
Ok, so I’m very late to the whole coffee thing, but they do say better late than never right? Let me set the scene, up until last year the only hot drink I ever ordered was Hot Chocolate and even then, only rarely. Last year, my poor student’s purse learned to love tea, 90 tea bags for £1.00? Yes please! Still I resisted the coffee bandwagon, until now that is! All I can say is, coffee, where have you been all my life? I mean, yes I have only tried one coffee, a praline latte, but it’s enough. My coffee journey has officially begun and even though I still have to top up the praline syrup’s sweetness with three sugars I’m on my way.
My favourite thing this week has been the days I got to the centre of town where I’ve been working a little early (thanks to my Mam for driving me!) and got to go for a praline latte. The coffee shop I’ve been going to has been so welcoming, which made me nervous at first, and accommodating, and this definitely adds to the *experience*. Even better, on the days I’ve been there I’ve started to notice some regulars, and being the people watcher that I am, I have enjoyed trying to work all their characters out.
So there you go, my first official Friday’s Favourite – Coffee! What has been your favourite thing this week? If you drink coffee, which one and where do you like to go?
Finally, I’ll leave you with a thought for the day, a coffee quote from one of my favourite films “You’ve Got Mail”, enjoy!
“The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don’t know what the hell they’re doing or who one earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf, Cappuccino.”- Joe Fox
